The Caribbean Rhythm Showcase namesHeadline Entertainment as show's producer

Seasoned music talent representation and public relations executive, Headline Entertainment’s Jerome Hamilton, has been tapped to take the helm as the producer of the upcoming Caribbean Rhythm Showcase.

The second annual staging comes to Kingston, Jamaica live on Sunday, September 18, and will be streamed live on YouTube.

The Caribbean Rhythm Showcase received approximately 100 submissions for its virtual staging last year and nearly tripled that for 2022.

In July the organizers of the newly curated platform for emerging talents in the music industry, the Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export) and its partners opened up for online submissions in the format of a performance video. Twenty acts representing 11 countries throughout the region have been selected to participate in the live staging this year.

The brainchild of Caribbean Export, the 2022 live staging will feature Soca, Caribbean Fusion, Afro Beats, Caribbean Pop, Dancehall, Reggae and Neo Soul Beats.

“The Caribbean Rhythm Showcase presents several opportunities and benefits for the artistes, in addition to interacting with professionals, they will be able to build their network, learn about other cultures, and form relationships with other artistes that can lead to great collaborations and friendships,” beams Jerome Hamilton. “Rather than the usual competitiveness of projects of this type, this showcase seeks to provide support to the performers as they perform in order to attract the attention of those in the music industry and entertain those who are simply watching for entertainment. The face-to-face showcase will provide a three-day experience inclusive of workshops that will aid in the performance development of each individual artiste,” shared Jerome Hamilton.

The platform is aimed at giving emerging artistes the opportunity to showcase their talent and be exposed to creative collaborations with local and international professionals. In addition to the artistes, the showcase demands a production team that shares the same vision to bring together a stellar live show which is complimented by Phase 3 Productions and the incomparable Brian St Juste, led by Robert “Bobby” Chantrelle.

Transitioning from a virtual platform to a live stage, Hamilton says, “I expect these chosen talents to use this opportunity to showcase themselves as best as possible.”

Expectations are at an all-round high as the Caribbean Rhythm Showcase will transform into a mecca of cultural and ethnic expressions with the talents originating from the islands of Trinidad and Tobago, Antigua, The Bahamas, Dominica, Haiti, St Vincent & the Grenadines, Grenada, Guyana, St Lucia, St Kitts and Nevis and of course, Jamaica. They will be privy to the multi-faceted knowledge that is imagined will be imparted by internationally-acclaimed producers, label representatives and other consumers of our region’s talent.

Once on the island, there will be a comprehensive calendar of events, activities and tours, for both the participants and professionals to engage in, as well as rehearsals and through the partnership with the Jamaica Tourist Board, the Ministry of Gender, Culture, Entertainment and Sports, Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO) among other entities, they will be able to share their voices in industry talks.
